My previous one year subscription with SiteGround hosting was coming to an end, and I was facing to the decision whether to continue with them or to try another hosting company. I’m currently involved in Partnership to Success coaching program and it’s there where I learned about D9 Hosting. Therefore I decided to try them out.
After almost a month I still cannot come to my senses! My blog is now more than twice as fast than before, dammit! I can tell you for sure that I don’t regret this move. It’s the most pleasant hosting experience I ever had with a shared account.
The image below shows the average load time for pages accessed by Google crawlers. You can clearly see the point where I moved to D9 Hosting. Before the migration, the load time was mostly above 1s, even 1.5s, whereas with D9 Hosting it dropped to barely 0.5 seconds!
Even so, I wanted to push further my blog performance, therefore I tried one of the most popular cache plugins, W3 Total Cache, because I had some improvements with it before. But now, the only result I got was a higher page load time. 😉
I literally tried every single option of the plugin, one at a time, but nothing worked as expected. Well, maybe leveraging browser caching improved a little bit the user experience, but this can be achieved without any plugin whatsoever. It’s only .htaccess matter.
After I removed the W3 plugin, everything returned to normal.
PS: Well, this post looks like a kind of testimonial, so if you feel confident, go ahead and check out D9 Hosting, I highly recommend it.
PPS: I cannot even imagine the page load speed when using a dedicated server. It should be instantaneous!
